From January to July 2005 Face Your World could use an empty gymnasium, on the site where the ‘Brede School’ (comprehensive school) and the new park is to be built. This provided an opportunity to work ‘on site’. The gymnasium was turned into an urban lab: a place to discuss and work on the design of the park with schoolchildren, residents and other interested parties. Face Your World StedelijkLab addressed a number of complex issues, such as urban renewal, practical education, neighborhood participation and the role of art in public space, and tried to interrelate these within the context of a design project.
